hi derek....thanks a lot for replying........

i have a nokia 3120 same as yours.....the cd i got with it was nokia Pc suite 5.1 version...but on the nokia website it is written that we need a 6.4 version for nokia 3120.......when i inserted that cd it got autorun and the DKU-5 cable was installed.i don't know about the driver cos there was only one file of a setup type.......... when i plugged it to the USB card my computer showed "New Hardware Found" .......but the problem is the nokia PC suite does not detect my phone at all.........the data cable i got is not an original nokia product ....... maybe that's the reason it is not accepting my phone........but i consulted few of my friends they aid that there is a taiwanese software which can detect any phone and works great with it......but my bad luck!!! they forgot the name of that software ......... maybe u can consult some one for that????

What is your phone model? The cd came with a old version of Nokia PC Suite so I downloaded a new one. My Nokia 3120 works great on it (but it says it is connected to a Nokia 3100b, weird, but hey it works great!). Did you install the driver for the cable right? When you install the driver, and then plug it in, at the bottom-right corner (if you have Windows XP) it should say "New Hardware Found" or Detected. And then it'll set that up. But AFTER you have done that you need to go into Device Manager and see what Communications Port your cell phone is using (it will ALWAYS use the same one) to do this:
    Plug in your Nokia Phone
Start > Right Click My Computer
    'Properties'
    Click the Hardware Tab
    Click the Device Manager button
Click the Ports (COM & LTP) '+' sign to expand it
You should see something saying (this is what it said for me) 'Port 1 on Nokia Adapter (COM4)' now remember that.
Now go into Nokia Connection Manager (in Nokia PC Suite, click "Manage Connections") and make sure 'Serial Cable' is checked, highlight Serial Cable and click Configure. Now click the Drop-box and select whatever it said in Device Manager (I selected COM4 because thats what port it was on, you select what it said in Device Manager)
Now it should say Phone Connected

    Hope this helps!

Ok the person shipped it, I should get it in 3-15 days (he lives in Hong Kong), Is there a "workaround" if this is not a "Genuine Nokia" product? How could I make it work so the cell phone will think it is, I know that Nokia has it so there Dku-5 cables only have 6 pins, and the generic has more. But the person keeps saying the cable will work no matter what, I can't afford to pay $50 on a Nokia cable when I already bought one (it was off of another user, so it was costing me $20 USD).
Keep in mind that I have a Nokia 3120 !

    Please help,
    Derek

Is the CA-42 a better way to go though? Does it have any more features?

Hopefully what he said is true (he could of been talking about a completly different cd)... oh well.. hopefully I'll be getting it. BUT all the Ebay sellers are having the same thing:
    Nokia 3120/3100/etc. w/ 2+ CD

so I guess one person didn't just 'whip up' a cd,

Hmm, it says that the CD is a Genunine Nokia cd, and I called Nokia and I asked them a ton of questions (one of which is about the extra gift CD) and they said they are now starting to do that.

    Thanks,
I'm going to buy it off of Ebay (only $3!!) I double-checked the sellers background, feedback, etc. I just emailed the seller with a couple of questions. The information about the product (on Ebay) says that there is a CD that comes with many ringtones/graphics/games.. is this true? AND will it only allow to be used with ONE cell phone or can my brother use it to?, we both Nokia 3120s. cant wait to buy it, sounds like a great product!

Once you buy the cable, its free to transfer them to the phone, and wit the software you can backup sms's phonebook and settings and that aswell! Its really worth it! Iv been using the cable with my 3200 for a few months now and its well worth it, if a tone doesnt sounds good just delete and you can see wat pics look like on the phone for free and transfer pics takin to the comp for free! well worth it!

Ok I'm planning on buying the DKU-5 cable to connect from my Nokia 3120b cell phone to my PC (it has Windows XP, so it is compatable) I know I need to download the PC Suite, and my cell phone service is Cingular, I have the NationTalk Family 1250 w/ Rollover plan. I don't have any extra features (for ex, I don't have the 7 to 7 feat, etc.). Does it cost anything for connecting to my PC. Does it cost for downloading images/ringtone/etc. from my PC to my Cell phone? How good is the Cable and free Nokia PC Suite Software? What can you do specifically?

    Thank you,
    Derek
