My Siemens S46 cell phone serviced by AT&T cellular does not allow me to do this. AT&T's customer service tells me that there is a way of "unlocking" the phone but nobody knows how to do it...........

    Anybody? Anybody??
what i know to this phone is tdma 900mhz-1900mhz, is true?
if this is true, you cannot put sim card on this phone. tdma and cdma don't have a sim card. but if this is a gsm phone and have sim card and you want it to unlock try this site www.cellularpager.com email them first.
this phone will work in asia and us. canada but not in europe.
    900mhz (asia) 1800mhz (europe) 1900mhz (u.s. canada)
if your plan is over choose t-mobile ang get tri-band nokia phone which very easy to unlock.

Sorry, I forgot to mention. After unlocking the phone - which is a simple entry from the phone's keypad - all you need to do is put in your SIM chip for the country of use. Check the internet for the providers (not service providers, but sellers of international cell phones and chips.) I found mine in Santa Monica, CA at a very reasonable price and had it the next day.

You don't need anything else but the chip(s). No cables, etc. Remove the battery cover, remove the battery, remove the old chip, insert the new chip and you're done. Of course, the phone must be unlocked before starting this routine.

If AT&T customer service can't give you the unlock code for your phone - and I'm assuming that it was sold by AT&T otherwise they won't have the unlock code - but if it was purchased from AT&T, then keep calling customer service - someone there MUST know how to unlock their phones.

I had to wait for 90 days after starting with T-Mobile to get mine unlocked for service in Italy last year.

Now I can purchase any chip for anywhere in the world and use the phone without suscribing to T-Mobile. I still like T-Mobile and have no plans on changing providers, it just provides a lot of flexibility for my travels - such as to Japan later this year and back to Italy, France, Switzerland, Germany, Austria, and Hungary early next year.

Keep pushing, and you'll get the phone unlocked.

You will probably need the Data cable, and the software (try a P2P share program). Or you can search google for a company that will do it.
