Even though this is an old post...the eclipse GSX would be that way to go...i have a friend who owned a turbo front wheel drive eclipse and all he had done was intake front mount exhaust piggy bag ecu, and boost controller (for lack of better term)...he made 360 to the wheels and ran low 11's on 16 psi (max at 26 on stock motor)

Im buying an 07 civic si in 3-4 months. I've never liked the mitsubishi, the wiring in their cars suck, and break down. The civic is garanteed 300,000 miles or better. Some ignorant people say civics suck, and when u ask what specifically about the civic sucks, they have nothing to say... Civics are very fuel efficient cars. The si @ 197hp gets 32 mpg hwy. Thats pretty dam good if u ask me.

"torque steer doesn't become prevalent until at least 230+ lb-ft torque. A civic doesn't even get half of that."

Actually the 06 civic si has 140 torque.

"And don't even think about upgrading an SRT-4.. You'll just end up with unbelievably severe torque steer, and understeer. Thats why you don't see many FWD cars go very fast."

U should see CFT's civic si up to 530hp and 380 lb torque.. Runs the 1/4 mile in the low 10's...

i spent $1800.00 to rebuild the engine with Aamco, whick i think they really ripped me off, but they were the only shop in town that would work on this import, and i was in a reall hurry to get it fixed. but they are expensive to repair.

i used to have a '93 mitsu eclipse, whick looked really nice sitting on white rimmies, but i blew out the transmission becaused i stupidly dropped it from neutral to low gear on a high rpm level and there goes the tranny. well i learned from that, spent

i have a friend that has a mitsubishi eclipse, i believe its an '92, 1st gen. and it had the stock turbo on it. but he is rebuilding the heck out of it, hes putting in an intercooler, high perf. fuel rail, intake, a very clean turbo charger, a new blow out valve, and a few other things. as soon as its all put together i will post some pics. but right now i think you can see his website on myspace, look the site up as team [email protected]

i would have to say the honda civic because there is just so much you can improve on this popular racing car. and the parts are alot more easily accessible. although there is the old generation 1 eclipse model that comes with a stock turbo, and can push out some pounds of boost if equipped correctly.
