I'll follow up my own post so it doesn't get lonely here. I'm still doing research and last night I hooked up an external panel antenna to check my signal strength, albeit on a phone that neither the cell socket nor dockntalk supprt. Went from 1 bar to 5 bars, not bad but I will check it today when it rains to see if unplugging the phone company will be worth it. Now.. to scour the forum and see if I can get any real information on what a good cell phone (that's compatible) is.

fwiw, we do most of our calling at night when it's free...

Hello. I am looking to get a cell socket or dock n talk or some such thing...I've got an antenna and am ready to ditch the local and long dist. providers.....

Besides the obvious thing withthe cell socket only working with motorola phones, is one better than the other?

I have been comparing a bit with and can't make up my mind...
