My phone stopped working text messaging all together, so I called nextel to activate text messaging, and about 24 hours later it started to work again

This has been going on for quite some time now. Nextel has been saying for months that they are working on it but have yet to see any change.
HERE is another thread about text messaging.

you are thinking of multimedia messaging, the sms text messaging rates are exactly the same as with the web based text messages.

We are having issues with the text messaging - they know about it- they are trying to upgrade some of the services- no extra cost-but it should be fixed with a week or so- if you are trying to text someone and it give you and error message it the * key and it will bring you back to the perv. screen it's a little frustrating but you can get them to go through, also check your notifications under setting and then phone calls - make sure it is set to recieve all- hope this helps

Am I going to have to buy a new phone, or should I just try calling Nextel? (I have an i730)

...SOMEBODY HELP! Is Nextel even working on this problem?
