I tried to edit, but GRRRR Admin only allow to edit if post is less than 10 min new.. I cant think fast so 10 min will not give me time FYI to Admin increase allowance edit new post more than 10 min PLS! Anyway Im posting better explaination...

Sidekick uses GSM/GPRS, as long your native networks area has GSM and GPRS capable..if theres no T-Mobile svc in ur area and it can still use exist other than T-Mobile GSM provider. Best experience would be to use on 1900 band..

BTW you still got have to sign up the svc through T-Mobile for Sidekick not the different than T-Mobile provider and it'll still work on GSM/GPRS as long your area has GPRS capability to use DATA through Sidekick....

T-Mobile is partners with Cingular, u'll be just fine with Sidekick and it'll work

Sidekick uses GSM/GPRS, as long provider has GSM/GPRS capability in order for voice and data to work, and its on your own with roaming... Some area may be roaming and partners thru their native networks would be no roaming other than that would roaming like they said regarding 850 band may be limited.. it would be the best if the provider has 1900 band..

As I have seen at phonescoop.com, the Sidekick II model PV-100 does not have the GSM 850mhz band, so I would not recommend trying to use it for Cingular or any other US/Canadian GSM service that utilizes the 850 band. You would end up roaming all the time unless you were in an area where your provider uses 1900mhz. However, the model PV-108 has 850mhz instead of 900mhz, and would work ok as a phone only on other US/Canadian GSM providers. As others have said before, you would not be able to use most of the data features, and it would only work as a phone. Not recommended either way.

    GSM 900 / GSM 1800 / GSM 1900(PV-100) /
PV-108 model has GSM 850 instead of 900

I have had this phone since sept 2004 and I had the Classic SK I think I would know lol, but there is no point to unlocking it because you wouldnt be able to use most of the features that the sidekick has

Jon, from what ive read and have been told about the side kick is, you can NOT use it AT ALL with ANY other carrier EXCEPT tmobile AND suncom...

you could use the sidekick 2 with any GSM carrier ( Cingular, AT&T,) but it will only work as a phone and you wouldnt be able to use the data part of the phone (Aim, Email, Download Fun, etc... You could use the data only with a T-Mobile Sidekick or if your with Suncom you have to use a Hiptop (same as sidekick)

nope as stated above by another member, you cant use the sidekick with any other service except tmobile.. although that would be great! Maybe the next sidekick they come out with ( if any ) will be useable through multiple services other than Tmobile. That would be great! BUT..I am probably highly exaggerating, it sounds nice but probably wont happen.. Hey, im free to dream, right?!?!? hehe =)

NOT that i would change from Tmobile.. BUT i would like to know that i have the option of using my sidekick elsewhere, incase i move and get no reception with tmobile, i can just know that i can always use my sidekick, no matter what.

Please dont get confused, i LOVE tmobile and wouldnt dream of leaving them UNLESS i absalutely had to! in that case, i would want to use my sidekick

no you cannot use that in verizon service. sidekick II is a gsm phone and use simcard.
verizon is a cdma network and don't use simcard.
you can use it to any gms provider as long that the sidekick you getting is unlocked.
but if you getting a sidekick from t-mo (lock) you have to use it to t-mo services.
