Its true! not only thos country that u have mention, but also here in the philippines we do that normally. Im a cellphon tech, i used to change the backlight (mostly in monophone), upgrade the version, change its font, graphics, customiz ringtones. etc...

I'm working on a story about cell phone customization. I'm looking for people who live in the New England area who do a lot of things to personalize their cell phones: wallpaper, games, screensavers, ringtones, cell phone covers. I'd also like to talk to people who regularly change various elements of their cell phones regularly.
