that's about average, keep in mind that the more talktime, games, picture taking, messaging, etc, eats up battery stand-by time.
also re-adjusting settings like display stand-by time and key-pad saves battery life.

Make sure the battery is sitting properly on the base of the phone but most likely it sounds like your phone is defective, your phone has a one year warranty so if need be you can get it replaced for free...good luck.

So i though that maybe the battery was defective so i plugged it in and came back 20 mins later to get it and it had turned off again.
