Any chance there are any nextel techs that are members of the site. I am getting a little impatient with this problem. Anyone heard anything. I was told they will have something by the end of April and they would call me but I am guessing that was a bunch of bull**** again because I never got a call.

Talking to someone on DC does not get them the picture of whatever it is you are looking at does it?

I have been told its intermittent and they have no clue what the problem is and have no idea when it will be solved. I was told last night that they should have something by the end of this month. Its been since october and they still havent found it. I am guessing they never will. I was also told the 860 run on a completely different server/system than the rest of the phones. Anyways I am really confused as to why my phone doesnt work but two other people in my area have 860 with text messaging that works fine. Okay well if you want to read on about my recent nextel service experience feel free....

I posted a few months back about my messsaging problems and I have learned a few things over the past 6 months and with many wasted hours on the phone with nextel.

    1. Not many people know much about the i860 including Nextel retail stores, repair centers, customer service, or level 1 tech.
    2. Customer Service people have no clue what they are talking about. A few examples.....
    a. I tried to get a refund for the $7.50 I was paying for text messaging
service for the past 4 months but I was told that since I was already
given a courtesy credit for the first two months they couldnt do it again.
Luckily after calling back and talking to a level 1 tech she was said it
wasnt a problem and refunded my money.
    b. I was told that I need a plan to send text messages from this same
customer service guy when I was already told I could just pay as i go
from a level 1/2 tech person a while back.
I talked to the level 1 tech lady (in the next call)and she confirmed that
didnt need a service to send texts.
I have 2 different i860's and have been through about the same as you. The only thing they have done is I can send text messages through the web, but with that service I am not able to send a text message through my contacts I have to type the phone number everytime I send a message which is a pain in the ass. Also I am not able to send a picture or anything through the web based version. That was the purpose of purchaseing the 860, you were able to snap a picture and send it. I have never been able to do that. I have some friends that can but when they send me one I try to open it and itr says it is downloading, then comes back with an error and can't open it. Nextel has no idea, no one as you stated has any ideas on this phone. So far I am not impressed.
