I Live out in the country of Ontario and am inbetween two strong signals and I find that Nokia phones tend to have the best coverage, my audiox 8910 only really gets great reception at top of hills and when I'm closer to towns. But my old nokia got 2/5 bars at my house.

I am having the same issue! I have the LG 4400, and since i kive on the fringe areea of Verizon coverage, I use an amp with external antenna just to use it occasionally! If I could only find a phone that had the power AND external antenna connection, I'd be set!
I still have some of my old Nokia phones, and was looking into those, since my best friend went to Trac-Phone and took the free Nokia and got reseption when my LG4400 coulnd't do it on it's own, and my other friend had Nextel and could n't get anything on his Moto phone!
Anyone know of a phone that actually CAN receive a signal and be reliable?!?!
P.S. I'm a newbie at this, hope I'm not in the wrong place to post this! If I am please let me know!

How is the reception on the Nokia 6015i? Is it as good as the 3589i that I am still using? Does it use the same chargers?

PRL does not equal software/firmware... 8700_01.400R is the firmware version, and this is what you need to check when asking for an upgrade. Only stores with a tech support section can upgrade this... it's not able to be downloaded over-the-air (OTA).

The VX6100 is known for having reception issues... so if this is your #1 priority, then I'd look elsewhere. The v710, v265, Nokia 6015i, and Samsung A670 are known best for reception. IMHO, LG's are much more durable than phones from other carriers, but that's not to day that every other carrier's phone is not as durable. They are just considered overall to be of better build quality. I have a VX7000 right now, and it's probably the best flip that I've ever used (since my old v60i... which isn't even in the same tier without a camera and color screen).

How do I know if my new 710 has the latest software. (I have prl version 50295 which the store says is the most recent)

    s/w: 8700_01.400R

Also, vx6100 vs the v710. Outside the bluetooth on the v710 which can be added to the vx6100, which one is really better. I am told the 6100 is more durable?

    Thanks

v265 and v710 all the way (for reported RF capabilities), although my VX7000 has never dropped a call, and I've been to some fringe areas. Be wary with the moto's though...

    1. v265 - many users report drastic mic and earpiece degradation after 6-9 months... may be due to dust collection in those areas.

    2. v710 - crappy reputation when first released, but with newest firmware, getting great reviews. Just make sure you have the latest s/w version.

my motorola v265 gets really good reception. i usually always have all 5 bars. probably because its a triband phone.

The V265 and 710 have the best reception as far as flip phones. The battery is a little less then other VZW phones tho.

So far these phones have had the best RF that Verizon has offered: LG VX4400, Nokia 3589i, Nokia 6015i, and Motorola v265

I really like the Samsung flip phones, I have the a670, I had the VX4400 before which was not a bad phone, but it felt like cheap plastic. The a670 has a solid feel to it and good RF. The Moto v265 also has good RF.
