Read the directions CAREFULLY. After you do the upload:
    Disconnect the cable
Find MENU on your phone (left face of phone; select it by using the "-" key
Axcess Apps is #4 on the MENU
    Open Axcess Apps
Press the OK on the face of the phone
When you see the shopping cart, press CLR until the phone errors out and resets itself
After the reboot go to MENU again
Media Gallery is menu item 6
    Press OK
    Go to TONES
That's where the d/l ringtone is

everything works fine up until i am supposed to close bitpim, the ringtone shows up and all but i dont know what you mean when you say "on the phone, go to "menu", then "axcess apps". once you are inside of axcess apps, exit out of it and you should get an error message saying "illegal user acxess mode" or something close to that"

i have no idea what to do... i dont know where axcess apps is... i use audiovox 8910 btw...

    **EDIT**

i also realized that after i do the ##7678 thing it automatically switches itself to usb data after i switch it to usb diag and close the phone

    Quote from Howard Forum:
"when you hook your phone up to your computer, i believe my com port is set to com4 and i have the phone model set to lg vx6000 but it also works with vx4400. after that, go to the filesystem tab and there should be a little cross looking deal in the upper left hand corner. click on that and it should load your phone directory tree. after you are in bitpim (assuming that comes up), go down to the "user" tab and click on it. then click on the "sound" tab. then a "ringer" tab should come up. right click on the name and it will come up with a list. click on "new file" and navigate to wherever you have your .mid/.mp3 file stored on your computer. click "open" after you have found it and it should appear in bitpim. after you are all done putting songs on your phone, close bitpim and disconnect your phone from the data cable. on the phone, go to "menu", then "axcess apps". once you are inside of axcess apps, exit out of it and you should get an error message saying "illegal user acxess mode" or something close to that. after that your phone should reboot on its own. all that is doing is creating the file on your phone. then to actually use the ringtones, go to "menu", "settings", "sounds", "ringer type", "ringer" to pick from a list of factory set ringers. when you get to that list, scroll over to the right or left and you should come to a "downloads" list. you should be able to set them as ringers from there."

I use BitPim and/or QPST. Paint Shop Pro for wallpaper to upload. WavePad to make ringtones. Everything works great so far.

go to www.datapilot.com and look under downloads. There you can download the driver for any USB cables.

you need a data cable. I got mine off of ebay from iTrimmings
it comes with the curitel driver
If you want to make mp3 tones.
you need a sound studio thing. I got Audacity its free. and you need Bitpim. depending on what service you have you should look around here on the forum and find a tutorial deal.

if your computer detects it as a modem then it should work, but remember to put ##7678 [end] go into diag and change it to usb diag..plug it in, start up bitpim and it should work. I've put a bunch of ringtones and stuff on here and so far i haven't messed it up, but i haven't tried pictures. Just remember to have insurance to cover ur fone just incase.
