    Thanks, guys, for the response. My area is Central Illinois. After posting my message, I realized something else that has happened right before I started having the problems I am having. I was having problems calling. I entered the phone number and hit send and it would show it was dialing and nothing else ever happened. I was near my local Verizon phone center, so stopped in. They took the battery out, put it back in and repowered the phone. Told me that it was like a computer that had locked up and that should fix the problem. I have had reception and dropped call issues ever since. My old Kyocera was model #2325 I think. I don't know if it was fully digital or tri-mode. Anybody know? Oh, and I am located on the very edge of town with few trees and a corn field just south of me. Last night I tried to contact Verizon on *611, and the phone dropped the call here too.

    Besides Boss' recommendations you may also want to have Verzion issue a tower check in your area to see if there is any maintenace being done that area being that you said your 6100 worked fine the first month, also keep in mind that there are other factors that might affect signal like weather or even trees that might be blocking your signal, you don't mention which area your're at but these are things to be taken into consideration.....

    Your using the 6100 in the same area you used the Kyocera? Was it a tri-mode or strictly digital?

    In my experience, the Moto phones do grab and hold a signal much better than an LG. (I have multiple LG's and 1 Moto) The phones themselves are another question. LG by far makes a better phone (at least I think so).

    I heard the new Moto 815 is suppose to be a nice phone, but they have already been recalled because of Vcast problems. If Vcast is no big deal to you, then you might want to look into that. Also the old Moto 710 (which I own) works quite well.

    Hi. I am new to this forum and just wanted to know if anyone else is experiencing the problems I am with a LG VX6100 phone. About 2 months ago, it was time for me to renew my contract with Verizon and upgrade my phone. I previously had a Kyrocera phone. I chose to go with the VX6100. I chose it because I wanted a flip phone and also felt I needed to have the tri-mode as I use it when out fishing in sometimes remote areas. My wife upgraded to the LG VX7000 at the same time. My phone was free and my wife had to pay $50 for hers and send in a rebate for $50 thus making hers free also. My 6100 worked fine for about a month and then began dropping calls. If it didn't drop the call, the reception was very poor throughout the calls. I took it to my local Verizon store and they updated the software in the phone telling me that would fix the problem. The problem was just as bad if not worse after the software update. I then contacted a Verizon tech who sent me a refurbished 6100. It is no better than the first one. He told me that if that didn't solve the problem, he could send me a VX7000 like my wife's for an additional $50. I am awaiting a call from him right now. Has anyone else had the same problems that I am experiencing with my phone? I used my wife's 7000 one night and it also cuts out but does not drop calls. I am not sure if I want to stay with and LG or maybe try to talk the rep into letting me switch to a Motorola. Any thoughts on this? I think I will have a little conversation with the Verizon rep about getting charged to replace a phone that doesn't work. Don't know if I will have any luck, but will try. Thanks in advance for any feedback. Oh, the Kryocera, never cut out on me or dropped a call in the 2 years I had it.
