I also wanted to mention that I just was informed that in "my particular phone" I have to go into the options and change the data settings. In there it says USB or com port. Also this is where you can set-up to recieve faxs. So I hope that helps. I have not tried yet so dont know if anything else needs to be done.

Well then I why should I even bother trying that. It's strange ya know. why does this have to be so difficult?? Well I guess it's all trial and error now. I have been reading all of these threads and tryng to piece together what I need to do. Keep in touch if you find out anything new, and I will do the same.....good luck

Plus if you read these threads EVERYONE has basically the same issues I have found. So if you have some time read them because I Know a couple of them actually may have links for that software which I am still looking for. Hope that helps, and if you find out anything please let me know too...thnx
I already downloaded BitPim, but when I set it up, it doesn't give me a COM port for the phone. Windows hasn't assigned the cable to any port, so BitPim doesn't know where to send and receive the data.

I also tried it on my sister's computer, but I got nothing. It says that it is "100% Plug-And Play" but I try to detect new hardware and nothing shows up. I'm at a loss. Have any advice on what I might be able to do to manually have windows detect the device?

    Tony E!
sometimes your phone is not recognized because you may have more than one usb modem installed on your PC, not sayng that's your fix but worth a try.

I just bought a data cable for my LG VX3200 phone. The intructions with the cable say to "Plug in the USB Mobile Phone Data Cable into the USB port and run the "Add New Hardware Wizard" to assist you in setting up the new device."

Well, I did plugged in the cable, but the Wizard did not open automatically. I went into the control panel -> Add Hardware -> Next. Windows searches for uninstalled devices, but it comes up with nothing and asks if I have connected the device. I say "Yes," but it prompts me to add the new hardware manually and I don't know what to select.

I have never had a problem with the USB ports that I'm using, and I've tried other devices with them to ensure that they work. Also, when I plug the data cable into my USB port and connect it to my phone, it starts charging it, so I know that the cable is working.

Any ideas on what I can do to install my cable drivers and ensure that it is correctly installed and working?

Also, I physically looked in the folders on the CD my cable came with, and selected the LG folder and selected "Setup" and it says "Do you want to install LGUsbDriver?" and I selected OK, and it says that it was installed successfully. I have also installed "PL-2303 USB-Serial Driver."

Please let me know what else I need to do to install my cable completely. I'm trying to use it to get additional ringtones and wallpapers on my phone using BitPim. Thanks.
