Go Pure, i like it! , I've moved on from RedHat to Fedora Core now, basically the older brother of RedHat though!

Another thing I might add to Mark's post is to dual boot. Leave your Wiindows Operating System on your computer. As like Mark posted above, you will get pissed/frustrated with it. When that happens, stop what your doing, switch over to Windows and do whatever. Once you have cooled down, then go back and try again.

I also would recommend Mandrake or even WinLinux to start with. I would also get somewhat comfortable with whatever you choose, dump it and install RedHat. Go pure baby!!!

The first tip i'll give ya is stick to it, dont get annoyed and chuck it out da window! it will get annoyin at times but once ya get it working your way you'll be hooked on it!
For newbs id say go with Mandrake, its one of the most user friendly distros!
And if you follow everything rite in the install program it will work grand for ya, but let it partition for ya if you dont have any experience with this! Id also recommend installing it on a drive of its own unless you know your way around your partitions well! Thats about it really, post up here if ya have any problems!
