Sorry, I forgot you were having that problem (I already use BitPim and QPST with the Flasher without incident)

I thought you were just complaining about not being able to access the USB dialog screen. I'd like to access that if it's there.

I made a breakthrough. I downloaded Curitel PST to see what this would do. To my surprise I was able to connect to my phone. Upon further investigation I noticed that the port number was not what I expected. I poked around my device manager and found "Curitel Packet Service" under the Modems section. This listed the port number that Curitel was referencing.

I exited PST then changed the port number to be the same as the COM port for the device.

I then oped Bitpim using the expected port seleted the Filesystem tab and voila...I was finally able to access the phone.

    Hopefully this will help!

I have a Flasher, and the same is true for me.

I tried ##7678(END) as per the instructions, but my phone does not respond with a menu.
The phone does respond to ##2283(END) which allows me to select the baud rate. I have tried 115200 and 38400.

Is it possible that the VM8910 has the diag option disabled? Have other VM users been able to get to this menu?

    The log messages on Bitpim:
    10:29:36.934 COM9: Opening port COM9, 115200 baud, timeout 3.000000, hardwareflow 0, softwareflow 0
10:29:36.954 COM9: Open of comm port suceeded
10:29:36.964 Other CDMA Phone: Listing dir ''
    10:29:39.969 COM9: Timed out waiting for 7e, requested bytes 1 - 0 bytes read
    10:29:39.969 COM9: Changed port speed to 38400
    10:29:43.473 COM9: Timed out waiting for 7e, requested bytes 1 - 0 bytes read

As stated in the Audiovox 8910 tutorials here ensure that you press ##7678 then press the END key. Select USB DIAG and the CLOSE THE FLIP. Then connect to BitPim.
You will have to do this every time the phone is power cycled.

Someone in this thread mentioned that he concluded that most problems were because of "data settings were not correct". I cannot get my VM8910 to communicate with Bitpim or any other application that I have tried. I have found the code to change the baud rate for data communication (I have tried both options), but I did not find anything that indicated that data communications was enabled/disabled.
    I'm using a cable marked "CUC-20 016237 A".
When I use Bitpim and select the Filesystem tab, and clicking on the +, all I see is "Retrieving ...".

Has anyone else had similar problems that they were able to resolve?

I'm not doubting the quality of your cables. I'm sure you get the same types as some of the eBay sellers do.

Incidentally, what is the photo meant to illustrate?

Some people say straight cables dont work, some people say converted cables dont work. Generally its simply user error or somebody forgetting to change their data settings on their phone.

I am not saying that you are wrong. Just from my experience with testing and analyzing multiple types of cables this is the conclusion that I have come to. We have sold over a thousand cables and I need to ensure our customers have a working product as we have a 100% money back guarantee.

The problem is that many people say straight cables won't work with Bitpim.

Unless the auction states the cable can charge as well, you should have no problem buying a converter cable off eBay. ($8-$10)

You should be able to use the Curitel 4.18 drivers for your Audiovox 8910 which you can download here

You can easily download photos by following this tutorial

Hmm, supposedly that should be the best one for Bitpim.

Try getting QPST, or try Curitel's PCSync
