Just want to share some of my experience using IrDA and PC Suite with my 6020. At first, I tried to place my phone as close as possible to the PC's IrDA like 1 inch apart. I got a very intermittent link. It had a lot of problem when dealing with large files like uploading a game/application to the phone or sync with the contact. Later, I found that if I placed the phone further away like 8 inches apart from the PC's IrDA, I can get a very reliable link.

But then again, Nokia says it is possible to switch between IrDA and Bluetooth without having to re-install or 'repair' the pc-suite - and so it seems to be, except for the One Touch Access.

After all I got connected using either bluetooth or IrDA by re-installing pc-suite and creating the infrared connection first ... but now the One Touch Access functions only with IrDA ... it seems that there's little to configure in the IrDA connection in the Nokia Connection Manager.

It would be much better to have an xml-file where all the settings and the configuration of the connection between laptop and phone would be clearly visible. Now you just have to guess and learn by trial and error.

In fact, I have to admit, my success has been only partial. One touch internet connection with IrDA modem functions as it should. But it is strange, when I try to create the pc-suite connection between the laptop and phone in Nokia Connection Manager the infrared-connection stays obstinately grey.

    Any advice or hints?

    Hei!

It was a tricky to get started in using the IrDA connection between my laptop, HPCompaq nx7010 WinXP Pro and Nokia 6021. The decisive trick was to drop the maximum speed of infrared port of the laptop from 4mbit to 115kbit. That was done in "control panel - system - devices - device management - infrared devices - SMC IrCC (in HPCompaq) - properties - additional settings - transfer speed limit".
