Ok... cable is found at cellphoneshop.net and you can also buy the software there for this phone... i didn't get the software, though now I am wishing I had. You can get the drivers at http://home.netvigator.com/~wjcorp9/dku5 and there is a free download of software that lets you access the contacts and calendar.... not what we seem to be wanting for the ringtones and pics, but it is something at least .... http://global.mobileaction.com/downl...ID=419&go=+Go+ for that software... hope that helps someone out there... and if you find out how to get ringtones, let me know ;0
I've heard you need to convert your MAX 30 sec clip of an mp3 to monotone (since it will play on 1 speaker anyway) and 24 hz, then email it to your phone (assuming you have email set up on your phone - there is also a website that you can upload to for free, then use that to browse to with your phone, enter a code and download it... like 88kb/song... max 3 for ringtones is what the phone will hold... again, this is only what I have heard... I am still banging my head against the wall trying to find software - free or CHEAP - to allow me to use my cable, rather than pay Cingular a dime for downloading my own clips

heres the best way i found to make ringtones for your cell.. in mp3 format
you'll need 2 programs mp3 wav editor and dBpower music converter
use the editor to get the part of the mp3 you want, then use the converter to shrink the size of the file.
upload the ringtone mp3 to a website hosting site (i have space through school) then go to your website through your phone, and download the song

    Bitpim clarifications needed here...

Isn't it just for CDMA phones? And is the c2000 actually supported?

Email, where 1234567890 is your phone number:
[email protected] with the mp3 as an attachment.

Get to the phone, I can play the sound on the phone just fine, but it won't let me assign it as a ringer. GARR!

Anyone know if there are specific specs for the mp3 file compression in order to operate as a ringtone?

This stuff should be in the manual.

Guys .. if u are able to connect the phone to bitpim. the ringers are in a folder called as "meldl" and titled as melody01.dat melody02.dat etc...
U could send over one of them to me .. .so that I could try to disasm it and send u a convertor to convert Midi to the Dat.

We already have a discussion about the same on Http://www.rimweb.com check the tech/programming section ... we have a section exclusively for Ringtone research
    Cheers

Yea I've always thought they weren't worth the price tag but if you need it for your tones then you gotta sacrifice i guess

As long as your happy with the phone, and can live with it, that's the main thing.
