Hello, My wife is interested in replacing her phone with a Nokia 6682. We currently are on a 2-year Sprint contract, and the 2 years is almost up.

We would like to buy a Nokia 6682 off of ebay, and then sign up with someone without a contract. I have never done this before, so I have a couple questions:

    1) Can we use the Nokia 6682 with _any_ provider that uses GSM? She's specifically interested in the 6682 because of the EGPRS support; does that limit the available carriers?

    2) Are providers generally willing to provide service to someone with their own phone? Would the provider simply give us a SIM card that we could put in the phone?

    3) The plan prices I see offered all seem to be part of 1-year or 2-year contracts. Are those same prices generally available to people without contracts?

Thanks for any information. This will be my first time buying a phone without a contract, but I would really like not to be locked into a specific provider.
