I've had a Matrix Infinity chip in my version 10 PS2 since the day I bought it.

And yes, most of us use the modchips and backups because our kids are rough on cd's and dvd's. I can also put games on a 120 gig hard drive in my ps2 with hd advance. THat saves on buying new games to replaced scratched ones!
Do you have any links about adding a hard drive to the ps2?

you passed judgement on all people who make backups of discs, whether legal or not..
if you make a prejudicial assumption as to the motives of someone based on the actions of the majority who may be commiting a crime.. your opinion should be stiffled!!
in your first post you painted everyone with the same broad brush therfore you have already made a prejudicial judgement, which only goes to show that you are not open to discussion and debate....

Well for the 5% who burn to back up it's technically legal...but the other 95% who pirate games; they are no better than basically walking into a store and slipping the game into your coat.

As for keeping my judgements to myself, i'm sorry but i can't do that. As John Stuart Mill states in his essay on liberty; opinions should not be stiffled for any reason (unless it goes against the harm principal) as it only encourages discussion and debate, which hopefully then helps all parties learn.

it is not illegal or immoral if you have a 8 year old who destroys every disc that the own
Therefore as i live in canada and the supreme court of canada said it is totally legal for me to make backups of the discs that i own.... keep your judgement to yourself
    thanx

You can get the mod chip on line. I bought mine for under $20 bucks. I just checked and the place I ordered mine from is no longer there (well, the website is gone anyway). Just do a google search for a PS2 mod chip.

It's very easy to install, and works perfect!

It's not like the old PS1, where you had to put in an real PS1 game, and it would load the necessary Sony codes, then stop, and you would have to take that disk out, and then put your burned disk. The chip I have, just put your burned disk in and play the game.

Yea, theres a way but you need a mod chip for your ps2 to play em and theres also a way to copy games onto your ps2 hard drive with programs like HDLoader I think it's called.
