I read something for school on the PS3 and it is reported that the processor will be as powerful as 100 pentium 4 chips.... drool!

Hang on... remember when xb1 released at that riduculous price, it was cut shortly wasn't it? Did M$ give out a pack to all those who bought it at that price (and with evidence!)?
Maybe when the 360 is relauched with hd-dvd us folks who buy one of the first batches will get something in return? Or at least a chance to get an hd drive.

I was looking forward to the dual HDMI too but for me, it won't be missed too much. I'm not gonna have 2 HDTVs next to each other that often.

Yea this will definitely be the most expensive generation, thats not even a question. Even the game are said to be more expensive bcuz of the new formats, at least until the income starts to come in.

I think the X360 will definitely be able to be modded much much easier than the PS3. If it wasn't evident enuff this generation with the XBOX, the X360 already has interchangable faceplates and is open to upgrade the HDD and also in the future, the entire DVD drive will have to be replaced by an HD-DVD drive. All of these options probably sound like a pot of gold for a modder and I'm sure it doesn't stop there. Sony on the other hand, isn't very open to the whole idea and it seems as if they pay more attention to detail and purposely make they systems harder to mod by amateurs.

Thats why I said that the speed isn't a true representation.

It'll be a shame if they scrap the dual hdmi, it's something I was kinda looking forward to. I was lead to believe that the PS3 had graphics and XB had power.

Anyway, I believe that this generation will be the one where it's impossible to tell the difference... and the most expensive.

Slightly off topic: What do you think will be the better console to mod? The XB360 or the PS3? I'm edged to say the 360 because of it is based on the Windows 200 Kernel (well, based on xb1 OS which was built around 2k) which means the hardware must again be similar to a PC.

    XB360 HDD confirmed
    XB360 Xbox Live
PS3 got the background from ps1 and ps2

I just want to find out a hell of a lot more about this cell processor. I know its not amazingly powerful as such (it's around 3.2ghz isn't it?) but they say it doesn't need to be because of how it runs...
Believe me those numbers are wrong, even if you were someone who has no computer knowledge, would it make sense to you that with the large size of these games and with the new graphical ability, the system(PS3) would only be able to move around under 3 gigs of data at a time? if that were the case, then the games wouldn't even be able to run properly, especially online.

other than that, the PS3 actually has more processing power, not the X360..I guess its up in the air right now which one has better graphics..the dual HDMI outputs might be scrapped in order to bring down the PS3 price..the PS3 also has a HDD, just not standard with the system..X360 definitely has the online edge

quite the contrary about the Cell processor though, at least if holds up to whats been said about it. the speed(3.2 GHz) doesn't determine its power, it actually has several cores all running @ 3.2GHz each, much like the X360 processor but I believe the Cell has more potential. its being used on much more than the PS3 and I think its supposed to actually compete with other CPU processors in the future.

that 260 GB ur talking about is total system bandwidth for the X360, the PS3 has much more than 2.86. its not as much as the X360 but its much higher than 2.86. which system is 'better' depends on what games u like, not the hardware, which was made most obvious this generation, PS2 was the weakest of the three but has the widest selection of games and sold hundreds of thousands more consoles than XBOX and Gamecube combined.

that being said, the move from PS2 to PS3 is a much larger step than the XBOX to XBOX360, so there will not be nearly as much of a noticable difference in power between the two systems. Bill Gates himself has said that the PS3 does some things better than the X360. it will all be up to the developers to take advantage of the hardware before anyone can say which system is better. I think both systems are neck and neck right now but I think the Cell processor in the PS3 has a much greater amount of potential. the developers just have to find out the right ways to bring it out. I think the first time we'll be able to compare both systems, as far as power goes, is when Resident Evil 5 is released. its on both systems and its made by a very distinguished company known for taking advantage of the strong points of system hardware, otherwise known as Capcom.

I wouldn't count on it. Remember that the PS3 has a bottleneck of 2.86GB/s and the xbox 360 has one of 260GB/s.
