Fortunately I got a 2 for 1 deal so I just record a sound or just pick an existing one from the list on my wife's phone and send it in a text message to my phone. then I just save it as a ringtone and it prompts to set it at that moment or I can just put it in with the rest. More of a crude sound quality, but it works every time.

I can use Mobile Action Software to upload the mid file from phone to pc. Then upload the mid file to the phone for ringtone.

    ok.....try this:

Make a new Pix Message. Add the ringtone to the pix message. You don't need to add anything else.

Then send it to this number: 555-555-5555

It's a bogus number and the message will fail to send. Once it does, go into your sent folder. The message should be there. Retrieve the ringtone off that and save it.

It should now be on your phone and you should be able to use at anyway you'd like.

    Tell me if that works.

Is the ringtone on the phone?

If it is, let me know, we might try the way we put ringtones on the 815.

This is one of the problems I and many others have found with the VX5200. Verizon wants you to buy ringtones directly from the Get It Now service, so they have to make it so you cannot set your sounds as ringtones, to prevent people from sending free tones to their phones. It's all a money issue.

My sister has an LG VX5200 and recently created VZWpix account in order to download her own ringtones. She is able to receive the sound mid file, but how do you apply the sound as a ringtone? When she clicks on the file from the My Sounds folder on her CP, there is no option to apply it as ringtone.

    the options are only:
    1. Send
    2. To PIX Place
    3. Rename
    4. Lock
    5. Erase All
    6. Sound Info

how do you apply a "my sounds" file as a ringtone?
