    That sucks about your phone
the i860 has GPS, ask if they can locate it

    If you want the i870
it is on sale till the 18th, $220.00 off

Best of luck, hopefully your insurance will cover it for you.

Like HookerUppa said, you can use the FREE software from Moto, IE Phone Book Manager or in a work environment setting, MOTO's "IDEN Companion PRO", not really designed for use on just one phone. It's for fleet managers that have to clone the same phone book in to lots of phones, Also free from MOTO. Nice thing about Companion Pro is you can pull the phone book out of the old non-sim based IDEN phones and write it to a sim based phone.... not for the inexperenced.
Start with the regular phone book manager and learn how to use it, then go to CP..
I use both, depending on the issues. The PB manager is easy to use to append a list to phones...
An example: I'm the computer geek (as my project manager jokes with me...LOL) on a construction project.
I have a new sub contractor come on site that uses Nextel also.
I get a list of the DC's and phone numbers and make a phone book.
I APPEND this list to all of our phone's and append a list of other sub's on site to the new guy's phones.... simple, fast. takes like 2-3 min's a phone w/usb cable.

the only problem you will run in to with Phone book manager is it DOES NOT SUPPORT NON-SIM based IDEN phones... You ahve to use Companion Pro foe that...
Hope this helps.... The CAP's is not shouting, just to show importiant information.

Just go to the Motorola/iDEN website and download
    PhoneBook Manager

    http://idenphones.motorola.com/iden/...ookManager.exe

Back up your sim to your hard drive
even edit on your machine and not your phone
and write it back to even other phones, anytime.

Or also,,,if you have tekniwap on your phone,
    that free internet for nextels
    http://tekniwap.com

    But anyway...once u have tekniwap,,,there is a BACKUP SIM
option in the UTILITIES link i believe.
    Look around, its there

Backs up your sim right from your phone

If you write down the serial # of your phone and report it to nextel they will be able to match the stolen phone to the sim card of the thief.

Yeah my i90c got stolen back in February and I called Nextel within a few hours to get it cancelled so the person couldn't use it. They just put a "freeze" on my phone number. Thankfully the thief didn't run up my minutes or cause any charges to my account. I had no choice but to buy a new phone through Nextel. I didn't have any insurance, but then again, I doubt that really provides much for stolen phones.

What if the criminal calls Nextel and gets the service switched over? I know you can just swap SIMS but you know when you buy a new phone and nextel asks for the IMEI and phone serial number? But i dont think a thief would be that dayum dumb!

Yes this is soo true!! Just go to your address book via NOL and click Send/Recieve and all of your contacts will be send to your new sim! Thats only IF you sent your contact when you first got the service. I have a i930 so this option isnt available to me anymore. But i got all my contacts on my Outlook in the event my phone is stolen!

Yea, you out of luck on the contacts. The best place to look for a new I870 is on eBay, I've had real good experiences with the phones I've bought there.

go to a place in the mall or something and ask them to make you another copy of the sim card. thats what i have and if my phone ever gets stolen or lost, i still have my contacts on the back up sim

Nope, your gonna have to enter them in one by one all over again, which really sucks. Thats what I hate about Sprint, everytime you get a new phone you have to re-enter your contacts.

I have never had a phone stolen from me so i have a question. What happens to the thief? Does he get away wid a free phone or is it traceable with the GPS? Can someone just put their Nextel SIM in the stolen phone and get away with it?
