I understand all the arguments. I don't view it as cheap. I think it's great you made your own ornaments.

I spent a week on Christmas stringing popcorn and cranberries to get an "old fashioned" tree. It was lovely.

I will never do it again! ;-)

    cut him some slack reader.

why can't he ask that question? it's not a matter of being cheap. perhaps people have views of being conservative opposed to wasteful. i think it's great if you can take 2 objects you're not using and make 1 that you do use.

whereas you may view it as being cheap, i think it's cool. some people just view things they can buy and say, i could do that.

i just got done helping my wife make christmas ornaments that she exchanges with her sisters. they end up costing 10 bucks to make. obviously i can buy one for that price. same principle.

    Oh, for goodness' sakes!

We'll take up a collection on the forum...no one should be wasting their time and eyesight to have a $5 data cable.

You can say it's to "learn" and "experience," but the reality is that there are just some things in life you buy...others you build.

If you're trying to burn time this holiday season, why not get out from in front of the computer and volunteer to help at a homeless shelter for a few hours?

    Life's too short!
