I've been given an i600 initially puchased in 2003 (to replace an LG6600 that had an unfortanate meeting with some water). I got all the install disks, etc, but the Verizon start-up CD just has dead links. I was able to manually (ran setup.exe) install active sync and see the phone on my usb port.

I know nothing about windows smart phone & active sync (although I am an experienced WinXP-Pro user). I have no interest in Internet access, email or address book sync (My email, addressbook, etc is on my mac - which I assume can't sync with a MS-based phone). I would like to use the Media Player to play mp3s and podcasts downloaded from my PC.

The "about" menu tells me I have smarphone 2003, v 4.20.0 - Radio i600.04 V.XE18 - Available storage of 20.07 MB, Available Memory of 13.85 MB, ROM update 4.20.40418.0

    I have active Sync 3.7.

    Questions: -

The microsoft smartphone site is most unhelpful - just some flash demos - where can I get more info?

Do I have the latest and greated software?

Did a memory (SIM??) card come with it? If not, can I (should I) get one?

Can I hack the interface (remove MSIE icon, put my name on display, etc) like I can with Win/XP?

What are the mechanics (a link would be fine) to obtaining, transferring and playing mp3 & podcast files (never done that before).

Don't see a battery usage app - is there one on it or can I get one somewhere?

Any pointers to useful &/or fun apps appreciated

    Thanks to all.
