yeah i left the battery off and let it dry for a couple hours, then hair dried it for a 10-15 minutes, then tried to power it up and no good. so then i plug it in to the battery charger and it fired right up, but at first it gave me some blue screen with it saying vart something and emergency downloading. then it seemed to go back to normal, other than not being able to dial out or recieve calls/text, and having that Q. i figured it was shot, but thought i'd see if there was a code or something along them lines that i could do. thanx anyways!

I went swimming in a lake, not realizing I had my SE w800i in my pocket. I was swimming for about half an hour. Needless to say, the phone was bricked. When I got home, I not only took out the battery, but I literally took apart the entire phone, removing every single individual part of the phone, and laying them out to be individually blow-dried (careful with the LCD screen though). Suprisingly, I can now actually get my phone to turn on, but the UI is busted once I insert any SIM.

Using an old Nokia 6600 now, waiting for the SE k790a to be my w800i's replacement.

    Ricer_X_01,

The biggest mistake that most people make when they get the entire phone wet, is to see if it will still work after a few mins of getting it dried off.

Powered on or off, the longer the phone is powered by the battery, the more damage is going to happen. So removing the battery from the phone should always be the first thing that is done.

When you say your dried it out, how long did you allow it to dry out, and did you leave the battery out out of the phone and back off of phone when allowing it to dry?

If it locks up at any point, it's pretty much toast due to a short that was caused by the water, and having power to it longer than it should have while wet.

You can try leaving the phone open, for a few days, shaking the phone out as much as possible and using a can of compressed air, to see if there is any water still on the insides of the phone near or of the pc board(s). Beyond that, sounds like it's toasted.

not to bring back and old thread for my first post, but my phone also took a dip in my toilet, accidents happen

anyways, i have a sch-a670 and i dried it out and it turns back on, BUT i have no service and theres a yellow with red outline capital Q in at the top of the display. also when i hit send, it says no call log. that and the front display when its closed, freezes half way through the animation and doesnt finish. so basically, its like the phone isnt activated or something. my pops called verizon and was thinkin it needed reactivated, and the women he spoke with said the phone it probably done, i.e. junk. so my question it, is there anything i can do to fix it?

any help, would be much appreciated.

    thanx,
    Jim

Even beat me to it boss!

Yeah, basically, do not turn it on and let it dry out... what boss said about the hairdryer, I'm kinda iffy on it... I left my sammy on the car window one time, and it died. Just let it go for a few days drying out in a dry place. Even if it comes back to life, don't expect much... waterlogged phones are usually dead soilders in the end

Edit - Whoops, Missed this Boss: "- put it on cool and low -" yeah, I agree with that, but i'll let it dry lol

First....take the battery out, get a hair dryer - put it on cool and low - and dry both off as much as possible.

DO NOT attempt to turn it on or put the battery back in it for at least a couple days. This way, any water that is still in the phone will have a chance to dry up.

After that, put the batter back in and try and turn it on. Chances are, the phone is shot in one way or another. But, you may get very lucky and it will work. If nothing else and the phone does power up, you may be able to take it in to Verizon let's say, and they can retreive the numbers off it and and even put them onto her new phone.

Am I right in thinking these phones don't have sim cards?

And if that's the case, is there any way of retrieving her phone munbers?

Orrrr...is there a good way of drying out the phone?

Any advice would be much appreciated. And I mean MUCH.
