i just figured out how to do it in a round about way, you can use qcp files. first follow the directions from SprintUsers.com - How to create AAC ringers for your MultiMedia Phone
to make a mp3 into a wave of the correct length, this process actually shows you how to make a m4a, but just select to save the file as a wave instead of of the m4a in the last step listed.

then use PureVoice Converter PureVoice Downloads to convert the WAV file to a QCP file.

you now have qcp file that your katana can use. just go to Sprint Users - Focus: Upload Content to your PCS Phone
& use the uploader to send the file to your phone.

    hope it works for you

I was about to post the same question. I know midis work, but they're... midis.

I used to send over m4a files to my Sanyo 7400. Does anyone know the new format or what format to use to send ringers over to the Katana. Preferably a format that doesn't suck. Thanks.
