Hey guys hoping you can help me out here.

I am going to Australia on Tuesday for 2 weeks. I have an unlocked Motorola V195 and a Red Vodafone SIM that I got on eBay.

What's the deal with activating this SIM card? I've never dealt with SIMs before as I have Sprint PCS for my regular cell. I went to Vodafone's activation site and it is asking me for an Australian address and my Passport ID #.

I asked the guy who sold the SIM card and he gave me an Australian address to use. So my question, is all of this legitimate? What is that address field for? Are they going to be sending me mail or personal information to some random address in Australia?

Maybe someone can explain this whole process to me? And why I have to put in a Passport ID # just to activate it?
