No, this SK will not be any faster no matter what network is is on because it is only capable of EDGE. If you want 3G speeds on AT&T's network, you would have to buy a 3G handset. If you have the SK on AT&T, you will only be able to use voice, and "SMS" only. IM, AOL, Yahoo will not work.
As far as getting the SK to work, all you need to do is insert your AT&T SIM card in it. You don't have to call customer care, in order to use the phone for calls, and texting.

Im sorry for being a pain in the "bleep" but Im illiterate when it comes to cell phone tech.
A sim card? but how do you get a rate plan? or are you on pay as you go with a AT&T sim card , and if so? whats the rate per minute on pay as you go if that's the case?

Can you get a plan even though it isnt a AT&T branded phone? How does this work?

I apologize, I just dont know?
    Thank you

    Thank you!
text messaging would be on the faster network you're saying? And do you mean by text messaging---> sms or do you mean AOL instant messaging and Yahoo! IM? BOTH? or as well? ? ?

And how hard would it be to call in and get voice on the sk4? would you tell them at the AT&T srvc center what kind of phone you're using? How would that work?

    Thank you
