Good evening ladies and gentlemen,

I am fairly new to smartphones and pda's etc. I am planning on buying a new gps and PDA and a mate of mine mentioned getting an HTC smartphone which has PDA and gps capabilities in one. I thought to myself damn sounds rather good so let's have a look. Then I stumbled on quite a few different types/versions and I feel a bit "lost" (like the famous tv series). Anyway can someone give me some pointers as to which smartphone has decent pda functionalities and functions well as a gps?
Sorry for the no doubt stupid question.
Any tips/pointers are highly appreciated.
