very true, but i jsut got the phone and i dont currently need it as of yet. Do you think that not having my sim card in the phone has any affect on my problem though?

Without tweaking your phone, I dont' think it is possible to use a phone these days without a SIM card.

Hopefully someone more enlightened will jump in and verify.

    I have a blackberry pearl 8100
i Just bought a patriot microSD 2Gb card.
I put my MicroSD card into the blackberry and it said Media card cannot be read. Verify that the memory card is formatted. So i tried formating it on my blackberyy and it said Media Card Format Failed. Then my friend who has a storm formatted it for me and it was formatted. I put it into my phone and the same message appeared. Then i formatted it again but this time on my computer. I put it in again and it said the same thing. (BTW my sim card is not in my blackberry, i do not know if this will effect anything but)
    MY SETTINGS were:
    Media CARD SUPPORT-ON
    ENCRYMPTION MODE-NONE
    MASS STORAGE MODE SUPPORT-ON
AUTO ENABLE MASS STORAGE MODE WHEN CONNECTED-ON

to add when i hooked it up to desktop manager then blackberry media sync it said on my blackberry: the media card is not available because mass storage mode is currently in use
BUT on the blackberry sync it said error please check that media card is installed correctly in your blackberry device ( which it is)
and mass storage mode is turned on ( which it is)

if u could help me out i'd deeply appreciate it
