wi-fi is a way of connecting comput.. ham, devices to a network. It can be used with laptops, computers, netbooks, smartphones.

You wont be charged for using and open and free wi-fi hotspot. However, maybe your phone operator has these wi-fi spots and you may have to pay to use them.

Well, this is all too advanced, since here in Brasil... well, the only wi-fi spots are at my house, college and mall, and they are all free :P

I have the same issue. I am on the phone with customer support right now. I HATE paying ridiculous ammounts for data on a phone. Especially when it has wifi.

If you use Data Usage (call *3282#) it should send you a free text saying if you've used any data at all.
If it does use data download and install "modaco nodata" that will block all data connections from the phone.

I got a samsung jack today and I wanted to make sure i am not going to get a charge on my phone bill for using 3g. My phone has wi fi and i still want to use that

I called at and t and they turned off the data on my phone but....
I turned my "signal" off for using phone services but i left my wifi on and the wifi connected
to my home router (which is unsecured open access router) and i tried going on internet but it said i wasn't connected to the internet. The internet on my router is working and thats a fact. i turned my 3g thing back on my phone and tried using internet and it started working again. i really dont think they blocked my data charges and my wifi isn't working when i dont have a phone signal. The At&t ppl blocking my data cannot stop me from using wifi. how come im still not able to use wifi on my jack? it says im connected to my router.... and the router is working fine, but i can't connect to internet on my phone. and im getting a strong enough router signal
