    Thank you. I had done some research myself, but wanted to see if anyone had any luck with completing the task.

    From what I've read, no. Tracfone only activates phones that are programmed for their network. Apparently the way their SIM cards operate is a little different from other GSM carriers.

    I have a Optimus T 509 with service via T-mobile. I have since upgraded this phone on the contract, but was wondering if I could turn this phone into a tracfone for our daughter.

    I understand I would need to unlock the phone, but was not sure if I would physically be able to use the phone on the tracfone network. Any info users could chime in with would be greatly appreciated.
