Personally I have no worries. It lasts one to two full days. I've had it 4 months no problem.

I had the same problem with a dead iPhone 4S. I called Apple tech support and they gave me a great tip. Hold down the power button on the top AND the round button on the bottom of the front of the phone (at the same time) for about 15 seconds. As soon as the Apple logo appears on the screen, let go. Hope this helps.

Have you tried DFU mode? The DFU mode will probably revive your iPhone.

Try this method here for iPhone restore

iphone 4s volume problem, another major bug issue:
    1. Siri may be the culprit.
    2. Check the flip button on top of the volume up/down buttons
(make sure it is not set to slient mode)
    3. Make sure sounds setting is not set on silent or airplane mode

First! you must post exactly what you did to resolve your battery issue.
Have you installed any third party apps that may control the volume?
What volume are you having problems with?
System volume, ringer volume, speaker phone volume, music audio?

Check if this is just a case of a battery drain issue. So you don't need to run to an apple store. A lot of people are complaining now about their battery life in the new iphone 4Gs but in my case, after a couple of full cycles of recharging it, the battery lasts longer compare to ip4.

The iphone 4s battery dying issue seems to be a major bug issue.
Some report that a full recharge, full restore and back up to old settings will resolve the issue.
Some have reported no increase of battery life afer this restore.

If the phone's battery fully died then it will probably take a bit of charging before it will turn on again. If that doesn't work try holding down the power and home button for 15 seconds. If that doesn't work take it to an apple store.
