I have sent texts to landlines and the receiver gets a voice message.

I have a problem. I want to open an account on Facebook and facebook requires a cell phone number to which they could send access number. I don't want to buy a cell phone just for that purpose, can I use my telephone landline to get this access number. I am sure there exists a cellphone emulation software which is capable of receiving text information addressed to a cellphone. Which software can I use?
