This guide will answer the most frequently asked questions about Sprint’s policy in regards to damaged or defective phones outside the 14 days satisfaction guarantee.

Q: I received my phone two months ago and it started acting up. What can I do?

A: All Sprint phones have a one year manufacturer warranty, so you will be able to get another one in exchange in case yours cannot be repaired. This process varies depending on the type of the phone that you have and whether it is insured or not.

iPhones – The iPhones can only be insured with Apple Care + from Apple. In case your phone has insurance, you have to go to an Apple store to either repair it or get another one in exchange if they cannot fix yours.

If you don’t have Apple Care +, you can go to a Sprint Corporate Store or an Apple Store to have the phone replaced or repaired, however, you will be subject to a deductible fee.

All other phones – All the other phones can be insured with Asurion's Total Equipment Protection (TEP).

Note: The insurance is actually for the line, not for the phone itself. So any phone that you activate on your line, except of an iPhone, is automatically insured.

    - With TEP: In case you have TEP on the line, you are covered as you will not have to pay anything extra to repair or exchange your defective phone. All you have to do is go to a Sprint Corporate Store with Service and Repair. They will troubleshoot your phone and give you another one in exchange if the issue cannot be fixed.
    - Without TEP: If you don’t have insurance on the line, all of the information above still applies. However, you will have to pay a $36 repair fee.

Q: I don’t have a Corporate Sprint Store nearby, what can I do?
A: In case you don’t have a Corporate Store with Service and Repair within 50 miles from your address, you can make the exchange over the phone with Technical Support.

Q: I dropped my phone and now is damaged, what can I do?
A: In case your phone or line is insured, you will be able to get your phone replaced.

iPhones: Apple Care + covers up to two incidents of accidental damage, each subject to a $49 fee, plus applicable tax. Thus you can go to an Apple store and ask for the phone to be replaced.

All other phones: TEP covers any type of damage and depending of the type of phone that you have – whether it is a top of the notch smartphone or a basic phone – you will be subject to a deductible fee from $50 to $200. This is quite expensive, but still now as much as the standard retail price of the phone. You will have to call Asurion to have the phone replaced or fill in a claim at sprint.com/protection.

If you don’t have insurance on the line, then you can try to fix the phone at your own expense or buy some of the pre-owned phones Sprint has to offer.

Even though the deductibles with Asurion are expensive, they at least cover everything, unlike Apple Care+. No matter what happened to your phone, whether it’s lost, stolen or your dog broke it, they will be able to give you another one in exchange. And the phone that you will get it’s not pre-owned, it is re-manufactured or even new in some cases. But it is up to you to add insurance to your phone or not.
