The Rooms feature is a new option that the Windows Phone 8 operating system brings along. By using this feature you can create an interactive group of family, work members or friends, with which you can chat, share photos, videos and set up events. This tutorial will walk you through the basics of creating a room, inviting contacts to a room, share photos and more. So check out the instructions below.

Create a Room

1. From the Start screen, tap People.
2. Slide left or right to go to the together screen.
3. Tap the plus sign (+) located at the bottom of the screen.
4. Tap Room and type in a name for the room.
5. When you’re done, tap the Save icon.

Note: The contact that you want to invite in the room must have a Windows Live account.

Inviting a Contact to a Room

1. From the Start screen, tap People.
2. Slide left or right to go to the together screen.
3. Choose in which room you want to invite the desired contact.
4. Then tap the Members icon located at the bottom of the screen.
5. Select the contact that you want to invite and tap Send.

Add Videos and Photos to a Room

1. From the Start screen, tap People.
2. Slide left or right to go to the together screen.
3. Select the room where you want to add the photos or videos to. In case you receive prompts for first time use, read and accept them.
4. Then slide left or right to go to the photos screen.
5. Tap the plus sign (+) located at the bottom of the screen.
6. Under ADD SOMETHING, tap photo -> select the gallery where your desired photo is -> choose the photo that you want to add to the room and tap the Checked icon.

Add a Calendar Event to a Room

1. From the Start screen, tap People.
2. Slide left or right to go to the together screen.
3. Select the desired room.
4. Slide left or right until you see the calendar screen.
5. Tap the plus sign (+).
6. In the Subject field, enter the name of the event.
7. In the Location field, enter the event location.
8. Under When selection, tap the date field and enter the date of the event and tap the Checked icon.
9. Tap the time field and enter the time of the event.
10. Tap the Checked icon.
11. Finally, tap Done when you’re finished.

To Make a List

1. From the Start screen, tap People.
2. Slide left or right to go to the together screen.
3. Select the desired room.
4. Slide left or right until you see the notes screen.
5. Tap the plus sign (+).
6. Tap Enter title and enter a name for the list.
7. Tap the list field and start composing your list.

Share Your Location

1. From the Start screen, tap People.
2. Slide left or right to go to the together screen.
3. Select the room with which you want to share your location.
4. Slide left or right to go to the chat screen.
5. Finally, tap the Location icon.
