    Screen Locking

    Setting Up a Screen Lock Option:

    1. Tap the "Apps" icon located on the home screen
    2. Go to "Settings" > "Security" > "Screen lock"
    3. Select "None", "Long press", "Pattern", "PIN" or "Password":
    4. Follow the on-screen instructions which may change depending on the option you've selected

    Changing or Disabling Screen Lock:

    1. Tap the "Apps" icon on the home screen then go to "Settings" > "Security" > "Screen lock"
    2. Depending on your screen lock settings, you'll be prompted to draw a pattern or enter your PIN or password. Tap "Next" after providing the necessary security information
      - Select "None" or "Long press" if you wish to disable screen lock
      - To change the screen lock method, select "Pattern", "PIN" or "Password" depending on your preferences, and follow the on-screen instructions

    Lock Screen Security Options:

    You can set up various other security options as you see fit.

    1. Go to the "Settings" menu > "Security" > "Screen lock"
    2. Set the following options as you desire:
      - Make pattern visible: show the pattern as you draw it
      - Automatically lock: set a timer after which the screen lock protection will commence once the screen turns off
      - Power button instantly locks: if enabled, you can lock your device by simply pressing the power button
      - Vibrate on touch: when enabled, your phone will vibrate on input (while you draw a pattern or type-in the password / PIN


    Encrypting the Sprint Vital

    Encrypting the Phone:

    Encrypting the data on your phone (application data, music, media, Google Accounts and more) can add an extra layer of protection in case your device is lost, stolen etc.

    WARNING! If you encrypt the device the process is irreversible! To unencrypt the phone you will need to perform a factory reset, thus you will lose all your data!

    Preparing for the Encryption Process:

    1. If necessary, following the guides above to set a PIN or password screen lock
    2. Recharge your battery and keep your device connected to the charger
    3. The encryption process can take a long time (an hour or even more) so make sure you have your schedule cleared. DO NOT interrupt the encryption process, else you will lose data.

    Encrypting Your Phone:

    1. Tap the "Apps" icon on the home screen
    2. Go to "Settings" > "Security" > "Encrypt phone"
    3. Review the information regarding encryption
    4. When ready, tap "Encrypt phone". Note: the "Encrypt phone" button will not be available if your phone is not charged or plugged in
    5. Type-in your PIN or password then tap "Next"
    6. Press "Encrypt phone" once more. The encryption process should now start. Keep in mind that it can take an hour or more. During the process your phone may restart.
    7. Once the encrypting process is completed, you'll need to enter your PIN or password

    Encrypting Your microSD Card:

    Note: If you choose to encrypt your microSD card, you will need to enter the PIN or password in order to decrypt it, every time you turn on your smartphone.

    WARNING! Encrypting your microSD card will result in all data on it being erased!

    1. Tap the "Apps" icon on the home screen
    2. Go to "Settings" > "Security"
    3. Check the "Encrypt SD card" option
    4. Type in your lock screen password or PIN (refer to the guides above if you wish to learn how to set up a password / PIN lock screen)
    5. Tap "Next"
    6. Read the information regarding encrypting the microSD card carefully
    7. Press "OK" to encrypt your microSD card
