Blinkfeed is HTC's new content aggregator on Sense 5.5. Either you like it or you don't. So here's the simple way to disable it:

    1. While on the homescreen, pinch-in
    2. The shortcuts and widgets menu should appear
    3. In the upper left corner is an option for 'Blinkfeed off' - select it
    4. Blinkfeed will be turned off
