    While the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 at AT&T comes with a locked bootloader, you can still root the device using the "Root de la Vega" method. Below you will find a detailed guide on how to root your Note 3 from AT&T.

    WARNING – MUST READ PREREQUISITES BELOW!

    Before proceeding, you need to understand what this method implies.

    To begin with, using this method will not trip the KNOX Flags, meaning that you shouldn't void the warranty by rooting using this method. However, since the bootloader is locked, you will not be able to flash any new custom ROMs, Kernels or any other types of custom files.

    Keep in mind that after using the "Root de la Vega" method, you will need to remain on the same firmware. WARNING! Any stock OTA updates applied in the future will remove root and you may be blocked from rooting the device ever again!

    Important Things You Need To Know:

    • Make sure that your Note 3 is AT&T's variant bearing the number "SM-N900A". DO NOT attempt to root any other variants or devices using this method. To make sure that your phone bears the model number SM-N900A, access the "Settings" menu and go to "About Phone"
    • This rooting tool flashes a custom pre-rooted stock Galaxy Note 3 firmware based on Android 4.3
    • While root will be achieved, the Bootloader will remain locked
    • You can use the "Helium" application from the Google Play Store in order to backup data from applications
    • Once again: no custom ROMs, kernels or custom recoveries can be installed after applying this root
    • KNOX Flags remain unmodified (0x0). This should not void your device's warranty
    • WARNING! This method will wipe all the data on your smartphone. If you use an SD card, remove it so that you won't lose any data on it. If you leave the SD card inside, all the data stored on it will be lost
    • You need to download and install the Samsung USB Drivers for PC by visiting this link. Without the drivers your handset will not be recognized by your computer or the Odin tool.
    • Before proceeding, disable or uninstall Samsung KIES from your computer
    • Disable any antivirus or security software on your PC. These programs can interfere with the rooting process
    • On your Galaxy Note 3, you need to enable "USB Debugging" from the "Developer Options" menu. To access the Developer Options menu, go to "Settings" > "About Device" and tap "Build Number" until you see the "Developer mode has been enabled" message. Now go back to "About Device", tap "Developer options" > "USB debugging"
    • Backup all the important data before rooting your smartphone
    • You will need at least 50% of battery life before proceeding
    • Before proceeding, you need to understand that rooting is something that should be done by advanced users. Things can go wrong in the process, and if you brick or damage your phone, you can't hold anyone responsible.


    Rooting the AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note 3 (SM-N900A) Using Root de la Vega:

    NOTE: after root is achieved, you will no longer see the Samsung boot animation screen when powering the device on. This will be replaced by a "Custom Unlock" icon.

    1. Download the "N900AUCBMI9_VEGA.7z" archive by visiting this link
    2. Once the file is downloaded, unzip its contents in a single folder located on your desktop. After unzipping the downloaded file, you should obtain a folder containing the following files
      • N900AUCUBMI9_OneClickBin.exe
      • Odin3 v3.09 executable
      • Odin3.ini (visible only if hidden files are set to visible)
      • Root_de_la_vega.tar
      • Root_de_la_Vega.zip
    3. Power off your smartphone and remove the SD card
    4. Boot into "Download Mode". To do so, press "Volume Down", "Home" and "Power" buttons simultaneously. Release thee buttons once the "Warning!" screen appears, then press "Volume Up" to confirm booting in "Download Mode"
    5. Launch the "N900AUCUBMI9_OneClickBin.exe" file
    6. Connect your smartphone to your computer. Odin should now say that the device was added
    7. Press the "START" button. Wait until Odin confirms the completion of the process
    8. After the root is complete, the device will reboot in normal mode, and Odin will let you know that the process "Passed"
    9. When the device boots in normal mode, unplug it from your PC
    10. Turn off your phone again
    11. Boot in "Download Mode". (Check Step 4)
    12. Launch the "Odin3 v3.09" executable
    13. Connect your phone to your computer using the USB cable
    14. Press the "AP" button in Odin and browse for the folder that has been created at step 2 (should be located on the desktop)
    15. Load the "Root_de_la_vega.tar" file and don't modify the default settings
    16. Once everything is ready, click the "START" button and wait for the root process to complete. Do not press any buttons while the process is undergoing
    17. After the root files have been successfully flashed, your Galaxy Note 3 will reboot
      • Odin should say "PASS", confirming that root has been achieved
      • Wait for the device to boot in normal mode and make sure that it is still connected to your computer. You will need to copy some files in the root partition
    18. Unzip the "Root_de_la_Vega.zip" (it should create a "root files" folder, and a "root_de_la_vega.sh" file) and paste these contents on your phone's root of the internal sdcard
    19. After the files have been copied, disconnect your phone from your computer and reboot your smartphone
    20. After your phone reboots, reconnect it to your computer
    21. Open the phone's storage using Windows Explorer, and delete the "Root files" folder and "root_de_la_vega.sh" file (from step 18)
    22. Unplug your smartphone from your PC and reboot it
    23. After your phone reboots, visit the Google Play Store and install the "Root Checker Basic" tool. Launch this application and verify whether or not your phone has been rooted successfully
    24. If successful, you can now power off your smartphone and plug your microSD card back into the device
