    Backing Up App Data Using a Google Account:

    1. From the home screen, tap the "Apps" button
    2. Tap "Settings"
    3. Tap "Backup and reset"
    4. Mark the "Back up my data" check box
    5. Tap "Backup account" and select the desired Google account to use for backup

    Backing Up App Data on a Samsung Account:

    1. Tap "Apps" from the home screen
    2. Tap "Settings" > "Accounts" > "Add account"
    3. Select "Samsung account" and sign in with your Samsung account
    4. Tap "Settings" while viewing the "Apps" screen
    5. Touch "Cloud" > "Backup" and mark the items you wish to back up
    6. Tap "Back up now" > "Back up"

    Backing up Contacts on a Samsung or Google Account:

    1. From the home screen, tap "Contacts"
    2. Go to the "Contacts" screen and tap "Menu"
    3. Select "Merge accounts" and select either "Google" or "Samsung account"
    4. If necessary, sign in with your account

    Backing Up Contacts on the SD Card:

    1. From the home screen, tap "Apps"
    2. Open the "Contacts" app and go to the "Contacts" tab
    3. Tap "Menu" > "Settings" > "Contacts"
    4. Select "Import / Export" > "Export to SD card"
    5. Write down the back up file's name if necessary
    6. Tap "OK"

    Backing Up Media Files on the SD Card:

    1. Tap "Apps" while on the home screen
    2. Tap "My Files" > "All files"
    3. Select "Device storage". NOTE: if you want to back up all your files, press "Menu" > "Select all" and skip to step 6
    4. Locate the desired files stored on your phone (pictures are in the "DCIM" folder, downloaded content in "Downloads" etc.)
    5. Mark the check boxes next to the desired files / folders
    6. Press the "Menu" icon and tap "Copy". Alternatively, you can select "Move" to avoid creating duplicate files
    7. Tap "SD memory card"
    8. Navigate to where you want to back up the files and tap "Paste here" / "Move here"

    Backing up Media Files Using a Windows Computer:

    1. Connect your Galaxy S5 to your PC via USB
    2. If necessary, drag the "Status" bar down on the smartphone, and tap "Connected as a media device" > "Media device"
    3. From the AutoPlay window on the computer, click "Open device to view files using Windows Explorer"
    4. Navigate to where the desired files are stored on your smartphone
    5. Copy the files, and navigate to where you wish to create the backup folder on your computer's HDD
    6. Paste the files in the backup location
    7. Once done, safely disconnect your smartphone from the computer

    Backing up Media Files Using a Mac Computer:

    NOTE: skip the first 2 steps if you already have Kies installed on your Mac computer.

    1. Open the Internet browser on your Mac and go to SAMSUNG KIES
    2. Click "Download for Mac OS" and follow the instructions to complete the installation process
    3. Establish a connection between your SGS5 and computer via USB
    4. If necessary, swipe the "Status" bar down on the S5, and tap "Connected as a media device" > "Media device"
    5. Launch Kies on the Mac
    6. In Kies, click the "Back up / restore" tab
    7. Click the "Backup" tab
    8. Mark the check boxes next to "Music", "Photo" and any other type of file that you want to back up. You can also click "Select all items"
    9. Click "Backup"
    10. After the process is done, safely disconnect your smartphone
