    Motions and Gestures

    Air Browse:

    Air Browse allows you to scroll through pages or lists by moving your hand over the display (sensor) without touching it. To enable this feature:

    1. Tap "Apps" while viewing a home screen
    2. Tap "Settings"
    3. From the "Controls" tab, tap "Motions and gestures"
    4. Tap "Air browse"
    5. Set the slider to "On"
    6. In order to enable application functions, mark the check boxes associated with the following:
      • Gallery
      • Internet
      • The body of emails
      • Music
      • Music on lock screen

    Direct Call:

    Using Direct call, you can call a contact whose message, call log or contact details are displayed on the screen, by simply bringing the smartphone close to your ear. To enable this feature:

    1. Tap the "Apps" icon while viewing a home screen
    2. Tap "Settings"
    3. From the "Controls" tab, tap "Motions and gestures"
    4. Tap "Direct call"
    5. Set the slider to "On"

    Smart Alert:

    With Smart Alert enabled, your smartphone will vibrate whenever you pick it up, in order to notify you about missed calls or unread messages. To turn on Smart Alert:

    1. Access the apps drawer
    2. Tap "Settings"
    3. Swipe to the "Controls" tab and tap "Motions and gestures"
    4. Tap "Smart alert"
    5. Set the Smart alert slider to "On"

    Mute / Pause Functions:

    The "Mute / Pause" option allows you to mute or pause the music player, alarms or incoming calls, using a specific device gesture. To use this feature:

    1. Access the phone's "Settings" menu
    2. Go to the "Controls" tab and tap "Motions and gestures"
    3. Tap "Mute/Pause"
    4. Set the ON / OFF switch to "On"
    5. Under "Mute / pause by", mark the check boxes associated with "Covering screen with had" and / or "Turning device over"
    6. You can also mark the "Smart pause" check box under "Video"

    Enabling Air View:

    Air View allows you to preview information, zoom in pictures and extend text by hovering your finger over the screen. It offers a clever way to preview an item using tooltips. To enable Air View:

    1. Tap the "Apps" icon while on the home screen
    2. Tap "Settings"
    3. From the "Controls" tab, tap "Motions and gestures"
    4. Tap "Air view" and set the switch associated with it to "On"
    5. You can use the Air View feature in applications such as the "Calendar", "Gallery", "Phone" and "Video player"

    Accessibility Features

    Enabling TalkBack:

    TalkBack is a feature that provides spoken feedback to your actions. To enable TalkBack:

    1. Access the phone's "Settings" menu
    2. From the "Device" tab located under "Personalization", tap "Accessibility"
    3. Tap "Vision" under "Categories"
    4. Tap "TalkBack" and enable the feature by setting the slider to "On"
    5. Tap "OK" > "OK" and the tutorial will start automatically

    NOTE: TalkBack cannot be enabled with the following applications: Air browse, Air view, Assistant menu, Interaction control, Multi window, Turn off all sounds, Baby crying detector, One-handed operation, Toolbox, Smart pause, Smart rotation, Smart scroll, Smart stay

    Adjusting Settings for TalkBack:

    1. While viewing the home screen, tap the "Apps" icon
    2. Go to "Settings"
    3. From the "Device" tab, under "Personalization", tap "Accessibility"
    4. Adjust the settings for the following options:
      • Vision:
        • TalkBack
        • Dark screen (Keep the screen turned off at all times for privacy)
        • Rapid key input (Release your finger to enter selection instead of double tapping)
        • Speak passwords (When Explore by touch is turned on, characters entered in password fields are read out by the device)
        • Font size [Tiny, Extra small, Small, Medium, Large, Extra Large, Huge]
        • Magnification gestures [ON/OFF]
        • Notification reminder [ON/OFF]
        • Negative colors
        • Color adjustment [ON/OFF]
        • Accessibility shortcut [ON/OFF]
        • Text-to-speech options
      • Hearing:
        • Flash notification (Flash the camera light when you receive notifications or incoming calls, or when alarms sound)
        • Turn off all sounds
        • Hearing aids (Improve the sound quality of your device for use with hearing aids.
        • Samsung subtitles (CC) [ON/OFF]
        • Google subtitles (CC) [ON/OFF]
        • Sound balance (Adjust the sound balance in media players for when earphones are connected)
        • Mono audio (Switch audio from stereo to mono for when you are using one earphone)
        • Baby crying detector (Alert with vibration when baby crying is detected)
        • Auto haptic
      • Dexterity and interaction:
        • Assistant menu (Improve device accessibility by providing quick access to a menu of important functions)
        • Air wake up [ON/OFF]
        • Smart scroll [ON/OFF]
        • Press and hold delay [Short, Medium, Long, Custom]
        • Interaction control [ON/OFF]
      • Direct access [ON/OFF]
      • Answering and ending calls:
        • Answer calls by: Pressing the Home key / Voice control / Waving hand over device
        • End calls by: Pressing the power key /
      • Single tap mode (Dismiss or snooze alarms, calendar events, or timer alerts, and answer or reject incoming calls with a single tap)
      • Manage accessibility (Import or export your accessibility settings, or share them with other devices)
      • Installed services (if applicable)

    Enabling Air Wake up:

    With Air Wake Up enabled, you can wake up your smartphone by sliding your hand over the surface of the display, while the smartphone is laying flat. To enable Air Wake Up:

    1. Access the phone's "Settings" menu
    2. Under "Personalization", tap "Accessibility" on the "Device" tab
    3. Tap "Dexterity and interaction" under "Categories"
    4. Tap "Air wake up" and set the slider to "On"

    Enabling Smart Scroll:

    Smart scroll uses the front camera of the device in order to detect the position of the user's head. This allows you to scroll pages without touching the display. To enable Smart Scroll:

    1. Tap "Apps" while on the home screen
    2. Open the "Settings" menu
    3. Tap "Accessibility" on the "Device" tab, under "Personalization"
    4. Under "Categories", tap "Dexterity and interaction"
    5. Tap "Smart scroll" and set the slider to "On"
    6. Select either "Tilting head" or "Tilting device"
