    Enabling Battery Saving Mode:

    1. Tap "Apps" while on the home screen
    2. Go to "Settings"
    3. Swipe to "Device" and tap "Battery"
    4. Tap the "Battery Saver" switch and set it to "ON"
    5. Choose to enable the Battery Saver "Immediately" or at a certain battery percentage
    6. Mark or clear the check boxes next to the various "Battery saver" options, such as "Auto-sync" etc.
    7. You can access more Battery Saving Mode options by tapping the "Settings" icon associated with "Brightness" and "Screen Timeout"

Lowering the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

    1. Launch the "Apps" drawer
    2. Tap "Settings" and go to "Display"
    3. Tap "Brightness" and drag the brightness slider to the left
    4. Press "Back" to return to the previous menu
    5. From there, tap "Screen timeout" and select a lower value, such as "15 seconds"

Disabling Wi-Fi, Hotspot, GPS and Bluetooth:

NOTE: A smartphone's connectivity features can generally have a big impact on your phone's battery performance, so it's recommended that you disable these features whenever they are not in use (especially GPS). To do so:

    1. Tap "Apps" while on the home screen
    2. Go to "Settings" and tap "Tethering & Networks"
    3. Tap "Mobile HotSpot" and set the "HotSpot" switch to "OFF"
    4. Press "Back" to return to the "Settings" menu
    5. Swipe to "Personal" and tap "Location"
    6. Tap "Mode" and choose "Battery saving (Networks only)"
    7. Press "Back" twice to return to the "Settings" menu
    8. Lastly, tap the switches next to "Wi-Fi" and "Bluetooth", and set them to "OFF"

    Change an Application's Sync Settings:

NOTE: Less data being synced means less battery being required by your phone on a daily basis. As such, you can squeeze a bit of extra juice from the battery by minimizing the amount of data being synced by your apps

    1. From the home screen, tap "Apps"
    2. Go to "Settings"
    3. Swipe to "Personal" and tap "Accounts & Sync"
    4. Clear the check box next to "Auto-sync data"
    5. Under "Accounts", select an app to change its sync settings

    Disabling Background Data:

    1. From the home screen, tap "Apps"
    2. Tap "Settings" and go to "Mobile data"
    3. Press "Menu" and mark the "Restrict background data" check box
    4. Confirm by pressing "OK"

Minimizing the Use of Third Party Apps:

NOTE: Although you may not use all of the third party apps installed on your smartphone, these unused apps can still affect your phone's battery performance, assuming that they run processes and services in the background. To minimize their use:

    1. Tap "Apps" while on the home screen
    2. Go to "Settings"
    3. Swipe to "Device" and then tap "Apps"
    4. Access the "Downloaded" tab
    5. Tap and hold an app, and then tap "Force stop" or "Uninstall"

Switching from 4G to 2G Connectivity:

    1. Launch the apps drawer
    2. Tap "Settings" > "Tethering & Networks"
    3. Tap "Mobile networks"
    4. Mark the check box associated with "Use only 2G networks"
    5. To return to 4G, clear the aforementioned check box

Keeping Your Phone Up to Date:

NOTE: With new software updates, smartphone manufacturers can improve a handset's battery life by fixing potential bugs and including various power management tweaks. As such, it's highly recommended that you keep your smartphone up to date.

Remember that following the steps below will have no effect on your phone's battery performance if a software update is not available.

    1. Tap "Apps" while viewing the home screen
    2. Tap "Settings" and swipe to "System"
    3. Tap "About phone" > "Update Center" > "System updates"
    4. Press "Check now". If an update is available, follow the on-screen prompts in order to download and apply it on your device
