    Thank you tavenger5!

i guess the cricket phone wont work. i've had the same plan with them for like 5 years and since then they have better/cheaper plans so im trying to get switched over. I never was really impressed with their service anyhow.

I also have an old Blackberry that does have a sim card in it. then a friend gave me his old nokia phone which also has a sim card in it. was thinking about swapping their sim cards and see what happens.

there are so many different cell providers now, its hard to select one that fits my needs. i probably actually talk less than an hour as most of my communication is done through text messages.

i'm not really sure which route i am going to take.

since im paying $60 for internet and was paying $60 for phone, was thinking about getting one of those 3g/4g always on internet boxes and use one of the phone apps to call and send/receive texts and would also save me money on my at home internet.

    food for thought anyhow...

The Galaxy Discover is a CDMA only phone - meaning it doesn't have a SIM, and you can probably only use it on Cricket. If you want to switch providers you'll likely have to get a different phone.

Hello all. I just found this site because I am having some questions regarding my Samsung model # SCH-R740C however I got it from Cricket. It has their brand name printed on the back.

Originally I thought I could just replace the sim like i have on older phones but it doesn't seem like this has a place for it. That said, I've never done any 'phone hacking' so a sim card may not even be needed.

I search SCH-R740C but didnt get any relevent information on my issue. Is it possible to use this Cricket phone on another network? I've had the same plan for almost 8 years and I'm paying $80/month for unlimited talk/text but I've noticed plans are getting cheaper at different companies so I wanted to explore that area since I don't use voice much, i use internet at home 90% of the time so my phone is mainly used to just text.

I'm not sure which provider I want to switch to yet, however I just wanted to make sure it is possible.

    Any help appreciated!

    Thanks
