NOTE: Master resetting your phone can solve various issues with your device, especially if you experience frequent crashes, freezes, poor performance etc.

WARNING! Master resetting your phone will delete all of your personal data stored on the internal memory, including apps, pictures and other media files, contacts, downloaded content, custom ringtones and so on. Plus all of the settings will be restored to factory values.

NOTE: Visit this thread to learn how you can back up data on the Galaxy V Plus before proceeding with the factory reset. Visit this thread to learn how data can be restored.

    Master Reset via Settings:

    1. Tap "Apps" on the home screen
    2. Go to "Settings" and tap the "Accounts" tab
    3. Tap "Backup and reset" under "Backup options"
    4. Optionally mark the check boxes associated with "Automatic restore" and "Back up my data"
    5. Tap "Factory data reset" > "Reset device"
    6. Assuming your phone is protected by a PIN or password, enter the necessary security credentials and tap "Continue"
    7. Tap "Delete all"

Master Reset using Hardware Keys (Recovery Menu):

NOTE: Use this method of factory reset in case you are unable to reset your phone from the Settings menu, as described above.

    1. Turn off your smartphone
    2. Press and hold "Volume Up", "Home" and "Power" at the same time
    3. Once the phone vibrates release the "Power" button but keep holding "Volume Up" and "Home"
    4. At the Android System Recovery screen, release all hardware buttons
    5. Press "Volume down" to navigate the menu and highlight "Wipe data / factory reset"
    6. Press "Power" to select the highlighted option
    7. Press "Volume Down" to highlight "Delete all user data", and then press "Power"
    8. Once the phone resets, you will be prompted to "Reboot system now". Press "Power" and wait for your phone to restart

    Check for Software Updates:

NOTE: After a fresh master reset it's recommended to check whether new updates are available for download. To do so:

    1. Tap "Apps" on the home screen and go to "Settings"
    2. Tap the "More" tab and scroll down to, and tap "About device"
    3. Tap "Software update"
    4. Check for new updates and if one is available, follow the on-screen prompts to download and apply it
