WARNING! Master resetting your phone will result in the deletion of all personal data stored on the internal memory, including images, ringtones, contacts, apps, downloaded content etc. However data stored on the SD and SIM cards will not be affected.

NOTE: You can visit this thread to learn how to back up data on the S4 mini Plus before proceeding. You can also check out this link for a full guide on restoring data.

    Master Reset via Settings:

    1. On the home screen, press “Menu”
    2. Tap “Settings” and access the “Accounts” tab
    3. Under “Backup options”, tap “Backup and reset”
    4. Optionally, check the boxes associated “Automatic restore” and “Back up my data”
    5. Tap “Factory data reset” > “Reset device”
    6. If your phone is protected by a lock screen, PIN, or Password, enter the necessary login details and tap “Continue”
    7. Tap “Delete all” to confirm

Master Reset via Recovery (Hardware Keys):

NOTE: In case your phone prevents you from resetting it via settings, you can perform a master reset from the recovery menu, which can be accessed through a combination of hardware button presses.

    1. Turn off the smartphone
    2. Press and hold “Volume Up”, “Home”, and “Power” at the same time
    3. When the phone vibrates, release “Power” but keep holding “Volume Up” and “home” pressed
    4. At the Android System Recovery screen, release all hardware buttons
    5. From the recovery menu, press “Volume down” repeatedly to navigate to, and highlight “Wipe data / factory reset”
    6. Press “Power” to select the highlighted option
    7. Use “Volume down” to highlight “delete all user data”
    8. Press “Power”
    9. After the reset, “Reboot system now” should be highlighted. Press “Power” to reboot your phone and everything should have returned to factory values

    Check for OS Updates:

NOTE: After a fresh master reset you should check for software updates. To do so:

    1. Go to the phone’s “Settings” menu
    2. Under “More”, tap “About device”
    3. Tap “Software updates”
    4. Assuming a newer OS version is available, follow the on-screen steps to download and apply it on your phone
