Clear App Cache / Data:

NOTE: In case one of your third party applications doesn’t work as intended, you might be able to fix this behavior by clearing the respective app’s cache or data.

WARNING! Clearing an app’s data will remove all personal information stored within the application, such as credit card and login information, profiles, high scores, save files etc. As such you should try fixing the app by first clearing the cache.

1. Tap “Apps” on the home screen
2. Launch “Settings”
3. Under “Phone”, tap “Apps”
4. Swipe to the “All” tab and select the desired app
5. Tap “Clear cache”
6. If necessary, tap “Clear data” > “OK”

Reboot in Safe Mode to Remove an App:

NOTE: If you’ve installed a third party app on your phone that causes issues and prevents you from removing it, you can try uninstalling the app from Safe Mode. When you reboot your phone in Safe Mode, third party app support will be disabled.

1. With the device turned on, press and hold “Power”
2. From the “Phone options” pop-up, tap and hold “Power off”
3. At the “Reboot to safe mode” prompt, tap “Restart” (NOTE: when the phone finishes restarting, you should see a “Safe Mode” label in the lower-left area of the screen)
4. To remove an app, first go to “Settings”
5. Scroll to “Phone” and tap “Apps”
6. Swipe to “Downloaded” and select the desired app
7. Tap “Uninstall” > “OK”
8. To exit safe mode, simply press and hold “Power”, then tap “Restart”

Wipe the Cache Partition:

NOTE: If your phone doesn’t work as intended and you’re considering master resetting it, you might want to try and clear the cache partition first. Doing so can solve various issues without losing any of your personal data stored on the internal memory.

1. Turn off the phone
2. Press and hold “Volume Down”
3. Press “Power” and release the key once the phone vibrates
4. Once you see the “hTC download mode” menu, release the volume key
5. From the menu, press “Volume down” repeatedly to highlight “reboot to bootloader”
6. Press “Power”
7. From the bootloader menu, press “Volume down” to highlight “Boot to Recovery Mode”
8. Press “Power”
9. After a while, a black screen with an exclamation mark should appear. Hold “Power” and press & release “Volume Up”
10. You should now see the “Android system recovery” menu
11. From Recovery, press “Volume down” to highlight “wipe cache partition”
12. Press “Power”
13. Once done, make sure “reboot system now” is selected, and press “Power” one last time to restart your device
