WARNING! When you factory reset your phone, all personal data stored on the phone’s internal memory will be deleted, including contacts, images, downloaded content, applications, ringtones etc. In addition, all settings will be restored to factory values.

NOTE: Before you master reset the phone, you can visit this thread for a full guide on how to back up and restore data on the Nexus 6P.

    Factory Reset via Settings:

    1. Tap “Apps” on the home screen
    2. Open “Settings”
    3. Tap “Backup & reset” under “Personal”
    4. Tap “Factory data reset”
    5. In case your phone is protected by a lock screen, enter the necessary security credentials to proceed
    6. Tap “Reset Phone” to confirm

    Master Reset via Recovery:

    2. Press and hold “Power” and “Volume down” at the same time
    3. From the bootloader menu, press “Volume Down” repeatedly to highlight “Recovery”
    4. Press “Power” to select the highlighted option
    5. Once the phone displays and Android robot with an exclamation mark, hold “Power” and press & release “Volume Up”
    6. From the “Android system recovery” menu, press “Volume Down” to highlight “wipe data / factory reset”
    7. Press “Power”
    8. Highlight “yes – delete all user data”
    9. Press “Power”
    10. Once the phone is reset, “reboot system now” should be highlighted
    11. Press “Power” to restart your phone

    Check for OS Updates:

NOTE: After you factory reset the phone, it’s recommended to check if newer software updates are available for download on your device.

    1. Go to “Settings”
    2. Scroll down to, and tap “About phone”
    3. Tap “System updates”
    4. In case a new update is available, follow the on-screen steps to download and install it
