WARNING! When you master reset your phone, all personal data located on the internal storage will be deleted, including media files, contacts, ringtones, downloaded content etc. In addition, all settings will be restored to factory values.

NOTE: Before resetting the phone you can check this link for instructions on how to back up data on the Galaxy On5, or this thread to learn how to restore data.

    Factory Reset via Settings:

    1. Tap “Apps” on the home screen
    2. Open “Settings” and scroll to “Personal”
    3. Tap “Backup and reset”
    4. Optionally, turn on or off “Back up my data” and “Restore”
    5. Tap “Factory data reset”
    6. Tap “Reset device” and assuming that the phone has a lock screen active, enter the PIN / password etc. to proceed
    7. Tap “Continue” > “Delete all” to confirm

    Factory Reset via Recovery:

NOTE: If you are unable to master reset the On5 via Settings, you can try resetting it via Recovery. The Recovery menu can be accessed by performing a combination of button presses.

    1. Make sure the phone is turned off
    2. Press and hold “Volume Up”, “Power”, and “Home” at the same time
    3. When the “Samsung” logo appears, release “Power”
    4. At the “Android” logo, release “Home” and “Volume Up” too
    5. After a few moments you should see the “Android system recovery” menu
    6. From the menu, press “Volume down” repeatedly to highlight “wipe data / factory reset”
    7. Press “Power” to confirm the highlighted option
    8. Press “Volume down” repeatedly and highlight “Yes – delete all user data”
    9. Press “Power” and wait for the phone to reset
    10. At the “Reboot system now” prompt, press “Power”

    Keep the OS Updated:

NOTE: After you factory reset your phone you should verify if newer software updates are available for download.

    1. Open the apps drawer
    2. Launch “Settings”
    3. Scroll to “System” and tap “About device”
    4. Check for a new version and if an update is available, follow the on-screen prompts to download and install it
