    Back Up App Data:

    1. Tap “Apps” on the home screen
    2. Launch “Settings”
    3. Tap “Backup and reset” under “User and Backup”
    4. To proceed you need to be signed in with your Google account. If necessary, tap “Backup account” > “Add account”
    5. If necessary, enable the check boxes associated with “Backup my data” and “Backup account”

    Back Up Contacts on a Samsung or Google Account:

    1. Tap “Contacts” on the home screen
    2. Tap “Menu” > “Merge accounts”
    3. Select either “Samsung account” or “Google”
    4. Tap “OK” to merge the contacts on your phone with the selected account

    Back Up Contacts on the SD Card:

    1. Make sure the SD card is installed on your phone
    2. Tap “Apps” on the home screen
    3. Access “Settings”
    4. Scroll to “Applications” and tap “Contacts”
    5. Tap “Contacts to display” and switch to “All contacts” if necessary
    6. Tap “Import / Export” > “Export to SD card”
    7. Tap “OK” to confirm

    Back Up Media Files

    Using the SD Card:

    1. Open the apps drawer
    2. Tap “My Files” and scroll to “Local storage”
    3. Tap “Device storage”
    4. Tap “Menu” > “Select”
    5. Locate the media files / folders you want to back up
    6. Check the boxes associated with the desired items
    7. Tap “Menu” > “Copy”
    8. Tap “SD card” and navigate to the desired backup folder
    9. Tap “Paste here”

    Using a Windows PC:

    1. Establish a USB connection between the Galaxy A5 and PC
    2. Swipe the “Status” bar down and make sure “Media device (MTP)” is enabled
    3. Open an Explorer window on the computer
    4. Locate the media files on your phone
    5. Copy the files and paste them in the desired backup location on the computer
    6. After the transfer is done, eject the phone storage and safely disconnect the device from the USB connector

    Using a Mac Computer:

    NOTE: In case Samsung Kies is already installed on the Mac, skip the first 3 steps.

    1. Open the Internet browser on your Mac
    2. Head down to Kies Support
    3. Click “Kies 3 for Mac” and download & install Kies
    4. Connect the Galaxy A5 to your Mac via USB (make sure the phone is connected as a “Media device”)
    5. Launch Kies on the Mac
    6. Click the “Back up / restore” tab, and click “Backup”
    7. Mark the check boxes associated with “Photos”, “Music”, and other media file types you wish to back up
    8. Click “Backup”
    9. Once the files have been stored, drag the phone’s virtual drive into the “Trash can” icon to eject it
    10. Safely disconnect the phone from the USB
