Restore Media Files

From an SD Card:

1. Tap “Apps” on the home screen
2. Open “My Files”
3. Tap “All files” > “SD card”
4. Tap “Menu” > “Select” and tick the check box associated with the files you wish to restore
5. Tap “Menu” > “Move”
6. Go to “Device storage” and navigate to the desired location
7. Tap “Move here”. Alternatively, tap “Create folder” or the folder name to select a different location

From a Windows Computer:

1. Establish a USB connection between the A3 and PC
2. On the smartphone, swipe the “Status” bar down and turn on “Media device (MTP)” if necessary
3. Open an Explorer window on the computer
4. Locate the media file backups on your PC
5. Copy the files and transfer them on your phone storage (preferably in the “Media” directory or where they originate from)
6. After the transfer is complete, eject the phone storage from the system tray and safely disconnect it from the USB cord

From a Mac Computer:

1. Connect the Galaxy A3 to your Mac via USB
2. Swipe the “Status” bar down and make sure “Media device (MTP)” is enabled
3. Launch Kies on the Mac
4. Access the “Back up / restore” tab
5. Click “Restore” and check the boxes next tot “Music”, “Photos” or other media file types you wish to restore
6. Click “Restore”
7. Follow any additional on-screen steps to complete the process
8. Once done, drag the phone’s virtual drive from the desktop into the “Trash can” to eject it

Restore App Data and Contacts

Restore Application Data:

1. Sign in with the Samsung or Google account used for the backup
2. Access “Settings”
3. Tap “Accounts” under “User and Backup”
4. Tap “Google” or “Samsung”
5. Tap your email address or user name at the top
6. Press “Sync all”
7. Go back to “User and Backup”, then tap “Backup and reset”
8. Under “Backup and restore”, check / uncheck “Back up my data” and “Automatic restore”

Restore Contacts from a Samsung or Google Account:

1. Go to “Settings”
2. Scroll to “User and Backup” and tap “Accounts”
3. Tap “Samsung” or “Google”, depending on the type of account containing the backup
4. Tap your email address and if necessary, enable “Sync contacts”
5. Tap “Sync now”

Restore Contacts from an SD Card:

1. Ensure the SD card containing the contact backup is installed on the phone
2. Tap “Apps” on the home screen
3. Open “Settings”
4. Scroll to “Applications” and tap “Contacts”
5. Tap “Menu” > “Import / Export”
6. Tap “Import from SD card” and follow any additional on-screen steps
